Your bills stay on your devices and in your own iCloud account. I never see them. The only thing Homeroll sends me is anonymous usage data, which you can turn off, and which never includes bill names, amounts or notes.
Who is responsible
Homeroll is made by Christian Sjøbeck, Denmark. Contact: christian@sjobeckdigital.dk.
Your bills
- Bills, payments and notes are stored on your device and synced through your own iCloud account (Apple's CloudKit), so they appear on your other devices. They're stored in your private iCloud data, which I can't access.
- If you share your bills with someone, they can see and change the shared bills through iCloud, until you stop sharing. You choose who that is, using Apple's sharing screen.
- Reminders are scheduled on your device. No server sends them.
- Widgets read a copy of your bills that the app keeps on your device.
- CSV files you import are read on your device.
Purchases
Purchases are handled by Apple. I don't receive your payment details.
Anonymous usage data
To find out which features are used and where things go wrong, Homeroll sends anonymous usage signals through TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service based in Germany that processes data on my behalf.
A signal records that something happened, with coarse details. For example:
- a bill was added, with its category and how often it repeats
- a bill was marked paid, and whether that was early, on time or late
- common bills were added for a country, or a CSV file was imported, with the number of bills in broad ranges such as "6–10"
- sharing was started or accepted
- the list or calendar view was chosen
Each signal also includes general technical details such as the app version, iOS version, device model and language. Signals never contain bill names, amounts, notes, dates, names or contact details.
Instead of an identifier that could identify you, TelemetryDeck receives a hashed, anonymous identifier, so I can count how many people use a feature but can't tell who they are. The data isn't linked to you, isn't used for advertising, and isn't combined with data from other apps or websites. TelemetryDeck doesn't sell or share it.
To turn it off, open Homeroll, tap Settings, then turn off Share anonymous usage. Nothing is sent after that.
Ads and tracking
Homeroll has no ads and doesn't track you across other apps or websites.
Children
Homeroll is not directed at children and doesn't knowingly collect any information from them.
Your rights
Your bills are in your own iCloud account; delete them in the app, or remove Homeroll's data under iCloud settings on your device. The usage data is anonymous, so I can't find, export or delete it for a particular person. Switching off Share anonymous usage stops it immediately. Under the GDPR you can contact me with any questions, and you can complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency (Datatilsynet).
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date.
