Your scripts and recordings stay on your device. The only thing Scriptlight sends is anonymous usage data, which you can turn off, and which never includes your scripts, titles or recordings.
Who is responsible
Scriptlight is made by Christian Sjøbeck, Denmark. Contact: christian@sjobeckdigital.dk.
What stays on your device
- Scripts, takes and settings are stored only on your device.
- Recordings are saved to your Photos library. Scriptlight only asks to add to Photos; it can't see your other photos.
- Text and files you share into Scriptlight are imported on your device.
Camera and microphone
Scriptlight uses the camera and microphone only while you have the camera turned on in the prompter, to record your video. Nothing is streamed or uploaded.
Writing with AI
The AI writer uses Apple Intelligence. Depending on your device, the text you enter is processed on your device or by Apple's Private Cloud Compute, under Apple's privacy protections. I never receive what you write or what the AI returns. See Apple's description of Private Cloud Compute.
Purchases
Purchases are handled by Apple. I don't receive your payment details.
Anonymous usage data
To find out which features are used and where things go wrong, Scriptlight sends anonymous usage signals through TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service based in Germany that processes data on my behalf.
A signal records that something happened, with coarse details. For example:
- a script was created, and how (new, pasted, imported, written with AI)
- the prompter was opened or reached the end, with your pace in broad ranges such as "130–159 words per minute"
- a recording started, was saved or failed, with the kind of microphone (built-in, USB, wired or Bluetooth) and the length in broad ranges
- the model of the microphone, so I know which mics to support best. For USB and wired mics this is the product name the mic reports, such as "DJI Mic 2". Bluetooth devices often carry a name you chose, such as "Anna's AirPods", so for those only a recognized brand or model ("AirPods Pro", "Sony") is sent, never the name itself.
- which settings are used, such as typeface and background
- whether the AI writer finished, and the length of its result in broad ranges
Each signal also includes general technical details such as the app version, iOS version, device model and language. Signals never contain your scripts, titles, recordings, names or contact details.
Instead of an identifier that could identify you, TelemetryDeck receives a hashed, anonymous identifier, so I can count how many people use a feature but can't tell who they are. The data isn't linked to you, isn't used for advertising, and isn't combined with data from other apps or websites. TelemetryDeck doesn't sell or share it.
To turn it off, open Scriptlight, tap the menu in the script list and choose Settings, then turn off Share Anonymous Usage Data. Nothing is sent after that.
Ads and tracking
Scriptlight has no ads and doesn't track you across other apps or websites.
Children
Scriptlight is not directed at children and doesn't knowingly collect any information from them.
Your rights
The usage data is anonymous, so I can't find, export or delete it for a particular person. Switching off Share Anonymous Usage Data stops it immediately. You can delete scripts and takes in the app, and recordings in Photos, at any time. Under the GDPR you can contact me with any questions, and you can complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency (Datatilsynet).
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date.
